Ida Mellen is perhaps the most famous of all woman aquarists that has a following of men and women fans even to this day.

Check out the two interesting ads at the end of this article – one for the earliest pictured view of a “Longlife” fish foods and the other for the Metal Frame Aquarium Co., which by 1938 had dropped the “Pott’s Aquarium Co.” in favor of this new company name which would in the end become Metaframe.
