MARINELAND Magnum Diatomite Filter Ad

Ad from the July 1991 edition of The Pet Dealer for the MARINELAND Magnum Diatomite Filter. MARINELAND used a “spa-type cartridge” in their magnum filter in 1991. I wonder why this filter failed in the marketplace?
