Maxwell Mica Bird Cage

Maxwell Mica Bird Cage from the museum collection. “Mica” is a 2-dimensional silicate material. This cage was featured in Maxwell’s 1849 catalog and was listed to come in two colors, amber and green. The cage in the MOAPH collection is made of green mica.
