Gone But Not Forgotten – In Memoriam: Dieter Hagen

Reposted from the Hagen Group LinkedIn:

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dieter Hagen, Vice Chairman of the Board and one of the founders of Hagen Group, in January 2026.

Dieter was a founder, leader, and lifelong steward of the business, playing a significant role inthe growth and continuity of Hagen Group for more than six decades. He joined his brother Rolf in Montreal in 1959 and helped build the company from its early beginnings into theglobal organization it is today. He was guided by long-term thinking and a deep sense of responsibility for what they were building.

Throughout the organization, Dieter was known as a gifted storyteller with a remarkable memory. He often shared stories from the company’s early years that brought Hagen’shistory to life and offered perspective on its evolution. He frequently spoke about the importance of building the business on “solid ground, not making sandcastles,” and believed strongly in trust, integrity, and doing things the right way.

Dieter remained engaged in the business well into his later years, continuing to take a genuine interest in both the company and its people. His presence was familiar and deeply valued, and his influence will continue to be felt across the organization.

A beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, and great-uncle to the Hagen family, Dieter was also a trusted colleague, mentor, and friend to many.

We extend our sincere condolences to the Hagen family and honour Dieter’s enduring legacy.
