1800s Imported Mixed Bird Seed Can
A rare paper container from the 1800s for “Imported Mixed Bird Seed” from the Austin, Nicholas & Co. of New York.
The reverse side has instructions on “How to care for birds”, plus the ingredients also list cuttlebone, which is to add calcium to your birds’ diet.
This rare bird seed container was in such bad condition that it was donated to the MOAPH museum, where it was given to Lynn, our talented conservation-restoration specialist, who brought it “back to life”!!
