Dr. Ernest Bay with “Instant Fish” (Killifish)

Riverside, California: Dr. Ernest Bay examines “Instant Fish” originally imported from South America and Africa. The fish have an astonishing ability to survive for months as eggs in dried-up mud. Dr. Bay, an expert in biological control of insect pests at the University of California, Riverside, is trying to find an answer to control mosquitoes that swarm almost overnight from newly watered ditches or ponds. The fish hatch just as quickly as the mosquitoes and swing into action, gobbling up mosquito larvae. Dr. Bay is raising thousands of fish to test their mosquito-killing ability.
