Heiko Bleher Memorial
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Heiko Bleher, a true pioneer in the fishkeeping hobby. Heiko was instrumental in introducing many of today’s most beloved aquarium fish, including the rummy-nose tetra and Boeseman’s rainbowfish. In addition to his contributions to the hobby, he greatly advanced our understanding of many freshwater and brackish ecosystems, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire aquarists for generations.
The museum’s good friend and prolific author, Emiliano Spada, filmed this the last time he visited Heiko and sent it to congratulate Gary on his new museum. As this is one of the last videos of Heiko, it shows his lifelong love of the aquarium hobby and how he continued to explore and collect aquarium fish right up to the end of his life.
