Miniature Horses…a ‘different’ kind of pet

In the early 1970s, I worked in a pet shop in southern California when the owner purchased one of the first miniature horses available in California. This feisty little horse became an instant celebrity in the store and appeared on the local paper’s front page with the owner’s 3-year old daughter sitting on it. I remember often taking this horse for a walk in the outdoor shopping center and having cars stop for a look and ask questions.
